The following has been entered into a competition last year. The paramaters of that competition were that the story could not take more than 50 words. And it had to be space-related. Anything to do with space. As you can probably figure out, it has not won. So I sip my Cracken-Spiced, and I--with no bitter taste in my mouth--present to you, the story:

Outside, dark nothingness. Inside, rows of switches, indicator and breaker lights filled the module’s panels. The world will be watching! The hatch opened. Neil took one small step forward out toward the vast silver plain. Down the ladder his foot slipped. He hit the ground.

‘Cut!’ screamed Kubrick.
